The Amakhala Safari begins and ends in Port Elizabeth.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Port Elizabeth or from the harbor pier of your cruise ship.

Participants of the Day Safari cannot be back on the ship before 3:30 p.m. at the earliest.  The Day Safari includes a 2 course lunch.

Overnight guests can use the lodge’s facilities until 4 p.m.
The drive to the reserve takes approximately 1 hour.

Accommodation in a lodge or in large safari tents with 2 game drives daily.

You will see elephants, lions, rhinos, cheetahs, giraffes, leopards and many other wildlife such as ostriches, zebras and many antelope species.

Safari at the Eastern Cape | Amakhala Private Game Reserve

We will pick you up in Port Elizabeth between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. from your hotel or from your cruise ship at the harbor.
The drive to Amakhala Game Reserve takes about an hour.

The Lodge is nestled discreetly on a cliff, in a lush river bush, and offers spectacular views of the valley of the Bushman’s River.

The guests are accommodated in seven comfortable sleeping huts made of stone and thatch, surrounded by native trees, which are enlivened by birdsong. Each room has air conditioning, a private bathroom with Underfloor heating and a private terrace with stunning views over the level.

Eastern Cape Safari Woodbury Tented Camp

Woodbury Tented Camp is tucked away in a secluded hillside thickets with views of the ancient river level of the Bushman’s River and is one of the hidden gems of the Eastern Cape.

Ten comfortable tents with private bathroom on elevated pedestals, each with its own private terrace, allowing guests to enjoy a rare intimacy with nature. Each tent has hot water, a king – size or twin beds and electric blankets for cozy evenings. The Portfolio also includes two family tents, which are connected to a balcony to each other, so that families can enjoy together the African Bush.

Life in the Camp is focused around the straw and canvas-covered dining and lounge area with a spacious terrace with a view on the level of Woodbury. A variety of wild species, such as Zebra, giraffe, Buffalo and elephants are often seen from the Deck, while the haunting cry of the fish echoes eagle through the valley.

They are led by an informative, professional Rangers in open Land Rover through the Amakhala Game Reserve. Here you can return to the nature and the abundant wildlife, the diverse Vegetation and the dramatic experience of landscape of the Eastern Cape.

Wild animals, you’ll probably see:

On the 18,000 acres of the Amakhala Game Reserve, you are likely to encounter lions, elephants, rhinos, Buffaloes, cheetahs, giraffes, Zebras, wildebeest, monkeys, turtles and many species of antelope. Maybe you’ll get lucky and see some of the more animals such as hyenas or spoon dogs.

This is your Chance to see the world-famous African Big 5 from up close in your own living space. In the center of the Amakhala Safari, only the great Majesty are not of wild animals, but even the most modest of smaller mammals, birds and insects.

The reserve is home to five of the seven biomes of South Africa, from Bush field to the Savannah.

Refreshment breaks were included in order to make your Safari experience more enjoyable. This Safari experience will create memories that will linger for a lifetime.

Overnight guests can use the lodge’s facilities until 4 p.m.

We return to the Port Elizabeth and drop off at the quayside at 5 pm or as requested.

Hotel pick up is included in all day tours. All our private day tours can be adapted to your individual interests.

Two Days Safari

We pick you up at your hotel or cruise ship, go on safari through the park until lunch, take a break of about 2 hours and then drive through the park for another 4 hours (park closes at sunset).
On the second day about the same with other routes. At around 5:00 p.m. we bring you back to the ship or hotel. Lunch or snacks in the Park Restaurant are good and inexpensive. Accommodation is a 3/4* lodge with individual chalets (for families)
Breakfast is included, . Dinner available at the lodge.

Kids from 3 – 11 years are welcome.
