Day 1 Hermanus
Your Guided Garden Route Tour and Safari starts at your hotel at 9:00.  We drive from Cape Town the scenic coastal road along the False Bay to Hermanus. During the Whale season from July to November you can do a 2 hour Whale watching boat trip. Or we stroll along the beautiful Hermanus promenade and drive then further to Cape Agulhas, the most Southern tip of Africa. It is partially gravel road, but we are sure you will enjoy the scenic drive to Cape Agulhas. We pass by the Black Oyster Catcher vineyard, where we can stop for a delicious late lunch. Cape Agulhas and Struisbaai is a must see on a Garden Route tour.

Cape Agulhas, the most Southern tip of Africa!

We will be driving a scenic country road to the beautiful Struisbaai lagoon, visit Cape Agulhas, where the two oceans meet and you may climb up the Cape Agulhas light house. With a little luck we will also see the huge, curious sting rays, which usually come right to the boat jetty at the beach restaurant.

Overnight in Hermanus or the Cape Agulhas region, 4* hotel or in the Black Oyster Catcher (DBB).

Day 2 Garden Route Game Reserve

We will arrive at the Garden Route Game Lodge at noon and you may occupy your suite. At about 04:00 you will go on your first game drive in an open safari vehicle with a professional wildlife ranger. The knowledgeable ranger will tell you everything you like to know about the big and the tiny animals the reserve is home to.

You will certainly see rhinos, the lions, elephants, giraffes, many different antelopes, zebras and with a bit of luck also the cheetahs. A rhino cub was born in Nov 2017. The lion group is particularly beautiful.
After the game drive you will enjoy the dinner buffet at the lodge.

Accommodation is optionally in Family Lodge Rooms, Valley View Bush Chalets or in Luxury Suites (images show chalet room, luxury suite and family room). The suites offer a second bath and an outside shower under the African sky. In all rooms and in the lodge bar & lounge with open fire place is free WiFi available (DBB).

Day 3 Oudtshoorn and Knysna
The third day of your Guided Garden Route Tour and Safari will with start with an early morning (7:00) game drive. After the 2,5 hour game drive you will a delicious breakfast buffet, and then we are heading inland to the famous Cango Caves, the World’s biggest flow-stone cave system. After an interesting cave tour we are carry on towards Knysna. (Oudtshoorn is also famous for the Meerkat Tour. If you are interested in these little creatures please inquire, overnight stay required)

Returning to the coast via the Outeniqua Mountains pass, we will arrive in the picturesque seaside village of Knysna. There are numerous adventure activities available here as well as some interesting local crafts. We spend the night in Knysna enjoying the bohemian’s town’s lively atmosphere (o/n Knysna, Ambiente Guest House (BB).

Day 4 Knysna

Today we will explore more of the Knysna region, interesting attractions are  the Knysna Heads, the big lagoon with its warm Indian Ocean water, Elephant Park, Monkey Land or Birds of Eden.

Enjoy optional activities such as canoeing, abseiling, hiking or a lagoon cruise. Visit a nature reserve, such as Featherbed or visit the beaches of Brenton on Sea.

Day 5 Tsitsikamma Forest and Addo Elephant National Park (Eastern Cape)

We can first visit Bloukrans Bridge, and the highest bungee jump in the world, before we go to the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve.

Tour the Tsitsikamma Forest and walk the famous suspension bridge over the Storms River mouth. Enjoy activities such as bungee jumping or Tsitsikamma Treetop Tours, which are suitable for all ages.

We depart Tsitsikamma and Storms River and head towards Port Elizabeth, where we will arrive in the early afternoon. We stroll along the beach promenade or will visit a penguin sanctuary. Then we head to the famous Addo Elephant National Park. Game driving in the Park allows for a good opportunity to take some unique photos of these special animals.

Day 6 Guided Garden Route Safari Addo Elephant National Park

Today we explore the Addo Park. The park is famous for its huge Elephant herds with more than 200 Elephants. In the dry season they are forced to come to certain water holes where one can watch them for hours at very close distance. In the wet season particularly the young Elephants enjoy the mud pools as shown on the left image above.

But Addo is not only home to Elephants. One can also watch Buffalo, Zebras, Eland and the Kudu. There are also black and white Rhinos and lions in Addo Elephant Park, but not to see them requires patience and a bit of luck.

Day 7 Port Elizabeth

After a morning game drive in Addo Elephant Park, we leave the park and drive East along the sunshine coast towards Port Elizabeth to catch our flight to Cape Town
The Guided Garden Route Tour & Safari ends at the Cape Town Int. Airport.
