Garden Route Wildlife Tour & Safari, 4 days.
We will pick you up at your hotel in Cape Town at 8:30 for your Garden Route Wildlife Tour & Safari.
The drive along the scenic garden route to the 3500 ha private game reserve Botlierskop takes approx. 4 hours, we will arrive at the lodge at lunch time. The game reserve stretches in a over valleys and hills and is home to an abundance of animals, including 4 of the Big 5, lions, elephants, buffalo’s, giraffes, rhino’s, hippos, rare black impalas and more, as well as a unique bird life. The first 2,5 hour game drive with an open safari vehicle and a knowledgeable ranger will take place in the afternoon. After the game drive you will enjoy the delicious dinner buffet at the lodge.
Early next morning the brave of heart can go on a Cat Walk with young lions (not incl.).
Accommodation is optionally in the Manor House or in ensuite luxury tents with air-condition and heated blankets. Free WiFi is available in the main lodge (DBB).
Garden Route Wildlife Tour & Safari Day 2 Knysna
We leave private game reserve and carry on to Wilderness and will soon arrive in the picturesque seaside village of Knysna. After checking in to your guest house we drive towards Plettenberg Bay to visit the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and do a Wildcat Tour (US$ 15 pp).
On the 1 hour guided tour you will learn about the indigenous wild cats of South Africa. See African Wild Cats like servals, caracals, cheetahs, lions and their leopard, as well as other wildlife such as Meerkats and Marabou storks. This program is suitable for all ages.
We can also visit the local Elephant Park and ride an elephant. The possibilities are endless.
There are numerous adventure activities available here as well, and some interesting local crafts. Enjoy optional activities such as canoeing, abseiling, hiking or a lagoon cruise. Spend the night at Knysna enjoying the bohemian’s town’s lively atmosphere. On request we may also visit the only wine estate in the area (BB).
Garden Route Wildlife Tour & Safari Day 3 Knysna – Garden Route Game Lodge
Today we will explore more of the Knysna region, visiting a nature reserve, such as Featherbed, visit Brenton on Sea or do a forest hike. see, Monkey Land or Snake Park.
At about 13:30 we will leave Knysna and drive to the Garden Route Game Lodge.
We will arrive at about 15:30 in the 2.700 ha game reserve. After check-in you may visit the reptile center and pad the head of a giant turtle.
The first 2 hour game drive with an open safari vehicle and a knowledgeable ranger will take place in the late afternoon.
You will see the lions, rhinos, buffalo, hippos, giraffes, many different antelopes, zebras and with a bit of luck also cheetahs. A rhino cub was born in Nov 2015. We find the lion group is particularly beautiful.
Enjoy the Dinner Buffet at the lodge. Accommodation is optionally in Valley View Bush Chalets (images show chalet room and family room), in Waterhole View Chalets or in Family Lodge Rooms (DBB).
In the lodge rooms is free WiFi available. In the lodge bar & lounge with open fire place is also WiFi available.
The next day you will enjoy the early morning game drive of your Garden Route Tour & Safari. After the 2,5 hour drive and a delicious breakfast buffet, we will leave at about 10:30 and return to Cape Town via the Franschhoek Pass. We will be driving through the beautiful Franschhoek valley and visiting on the way the historical university town of Stellenbosch. The second oldest city of South Africa offers original Victorian buildings under the shadows of the original old oak trees.
On request we also visit one of the many wine estates for a wine tasting in Franschhoek or in the Stellenbosch region.
Drop off at your Cape Town hotel.
Cape Town hotel pick up and drop off is included in this tour. The private tour can be adapted to your individual interests, e.g. we can also drive back via Cape Agulhas, the most Southern tip of Africa.
