See the rocky Fish River valley, explore the beautiful plains of the Namib Rand Desert, the apricot coloured dunes of Sossusvlei, the romantic coastal town of Swakopmund, nestled between the Ocean and the Desert. The breath taking terrain of Damaraland and the abundant wildlife in the world renowned Etosha National Park on this exclusive Namibia self-drive safari. The private 14 days safari tour can be shortened or extended.

Cape Town – Windhoek Self Drive Safari Day 1 Cape Town
Your Cape Town – Windhoek Self Drive Safari starts upon your arrival at Cape Town International airport. You will pick your rental car up and, depending on your arrival time, you will drive to your guest house or enjoy a brief city tour.
Overnight at Noordhoek Beach Guest House (B&B)
Cape Town – Noordhoek
Noordhoek with its 8km long white sandy beach is an excellent location for excursions to the major attractions of the Cape Peninsula. We visit the Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach, Kalk Bay Harbour and a beautiful wine estate in the area.
The very popular Noordhoek Farm Village offers a sushi bar, fine cuisine, a French bakery, live music and a Pizzaria Pub.

Cape Town – Windhoek Self Drive Safari Day 2 Cape Town – Noordhoek
Today we drive via scenic Chapmans Peak drive to Hout Bay, visit Camps Bay and Clifton Beach. From Signal Hill we have a beautiful view over the Twelve Apostle and the Stadium. In the afternoon drive up to the cable car station to go up to Table Mountain. (We can also hike up the mountain if requested)

Cape Town – Windhoek Self Drive Safari Day 3 Namaqualand
The best time to visit is August September when the meadows are flowering.

Cape Town – Windhoek Self Drive Safari Day 5 Lüderitz
Lüderitz is a harbour town in southern Namibia, lying on one of the least hospitable coasts in Africa.
The town is known for its colonial architecture, including some Art Nouveau work, and for wildlife including seals, penguins, flamingos and ostriches. It is also home to a museum, and lies at the end of a currently decommissioned railway line to Keetmanshoop.
Just outside Lüderitz lies the ghost town of Kolmanskop, a prominent tourist destination. This previously bustling diamond town is now abandoned, and fights a constant struggle against being buried under the shifting sand dunes of the Namib desert.
Kairos Cottage at Shark Island is a unique bed & breakfast accommodation boasting stunning sea views! Guests can enjoy a lovely breakfast while being serenaded with a song or two.
Double or twin rooms, with its own en-suite bathroom with a shower and spectacular sea views and sunsets. Each room has a television and coffee station with a bar fridge.

Day 6 Namib Rand Nature Reserve
The NamibRand Nature Reserve, located in southern Namibia, is a private nature reserve established to help protect and conserve the unique ecology and wildlife of the south-west Namib Desert. Conserving the pro-Namib, the area along the eastern edge of the Namib Desert, is critically important in order to facilitate seasonal migratory wildlife routes and to protect biodiversity. It is probably the largest private nature reserve in southern Africa, extending over an area of 215,000 ha. The Reserve shares a 100km border with the Namib-Naukluft National Park.

Day 7 Sossusvlei
The individual luxurious accommodation units at Sossusvlei Lodge are uniquely designed to blend in with the natural surrounding environment. Each unit features: Air-condition, En-suite bathroom (shower), Electronic safe Coffee- & Tea making facility. Overnight at Sossusvlei Lodge (DBB).
Sossusvlei and Sesriem
Early morning you may visit Sossusvlei, (a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world), which is surrounded by the possibly highest dunes in the world and is filled only with water in years when exceptionally good rainfall is received. We visit the Sesriem Canyon. It is said that the canyon got its name during the time of the ox wagon, when a person had to use six harness straps to haul water from the bottom of the canyon.

Day 8: Walvis Bay and Swakopmund
Drive to the old colonial town of Swakopmund. The route takes you first to Walvis Bay and further to Swakopmund.
Excerpt from Wikipedia: Swakopmund is a beach resort and an example of German colonial architecture. It was founded in 1892 as the main harbour for German South-West Africa, and a small part of its population is still German-speaking today.

Day 9 Walvis Bay and Swakopmund
Top up your Luxury Namibia Self Drive Safari with a dolphin cruise on the Walvis Bay Lagoon (optional). Overnight stay at Beach Lodge, luxury room on bed & breakfast basis.
Buildings in the city include the Altes Gefängnis prison, designed by Heinrich Bause in 1909. The Woermannhaus, built in 1906 with a prominent tower, is now a public library. Attractions in Swakopmund include a Swakopmund Museum, the National Marine Aquarium, a crystal gallery and spectacular sand dunes near Langstrand south of the Swakop River. Outside of the city, the Rossmund Desert Golf Course is one of only five all-grass desert golf courses in the world. Nearby is the Martin Luther steam locomotive, dating from 1896 and abandoned in the desert.
Day 10 Brandberg and Damaraland
Departure from Swakopmund along the Atlantic Coast towards the North.
Overnight at the Ugab Terrace Lodge or similar on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Day 11: Damaraland
We visit the Petrified Forest, Vingerklip

Day 12 Etosha National Park
Leaving Ugab Terrace Lodge, we will travel to Etosha Safari Camp only a few kilometers from Etosha National Park. At the heart of this National Park is the Etosha Pan, a vast dry shallow depression. Perennial springs feed the waterholes along the southern verge, which attract a myriad of animal species. You may enjoy a first Game Drive Game drive in Etosha NP.

Overnight stay in luxury tented chalet in Mushara Bush Camp (Dinner Bed & Breakfast).
Day 13 Etosha National Park
Mushara Bush Camp
Drive into Etosha NP and towards the Eastern gate of Etosha NP and further to Mushara Bush Lodge, right outside of the park (8km).

Day 14 Waterberg Plateau and Wabi Game Reserve
We may either do an early morning Game Drive in Etosha NP or drive on to our next destination in the Waterberg region. On route you may visit a Bush men village (reservation essential).

The mountain area, namely the breath-taking and unique Waterberg Plateau invites you to adventurous excursions by car or on foot.
The roads along the edge of the escarpment offer superb views of high, rocky peaks of red sandstone eroded into fantastic shapes and laced with the clinging vines of climbing figs.
On the game drives you will see Leopard, Cheetah, Brown Hyena, Water Buffalo, Roan Antelope, Sable, Waterbuck, Nyala, Red Letschwe, Giraffe, Zebra and even Hippo, among many others.

Day 15 Erindi Private Game Reserve.
Drive about 2.5 hours to private Erindi Game Reserve. The 71.000 ha private game reserve is home to over 10.000 animals.

You will see lions, leopards, elephants, giraffe, all kind of antelopes, hippo, cheetah, croc, buffalo and may be even Wild Dogs.
We drive with our 4×4 vehicle in the game reserve or you may book a professional game drive (not included).

Day 16 Windhoek
Return via Okahandja to Windhoek. Okahandja is an important centre for woodcarvers from the north. They practice their ancient skills at the Woodcarvers Market next to the main road. This is a good place to pick a last souvenir. Your Cape Town – Windhoek Self Drive Safari ends in Windhoek. We can either transfer you to the airport or arrange a accommodation for an early morning departure flight.
