Detailed Itinerary

Namibia Family Safari Self Drive 9 days 

On our Namibia Family Safari we try to make a safari through this beautiful country with its unspoiled, vast landscapes, but sometimes very long stretches of driving between points of interest more interesting and fun for children. The distance between overnight accommodation is therefor not more than 200 km and only once 300 km.

The itinerary can be adapted to your personal needs.

DAY 1 & 2: Lake Oanob Resort
Upon arrival in Windhoek at Hosea Kutako (Windhoek International) airport, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your vehicle. Depending on your arrival time (before or after 14:00) you may either go straight on your Namibia Family Safari or drive to your Windhoek guest house.

Situated on 6200 hectares in the beautiful Hardap Region, Lake Oanob Resort is a unique Resort, featuring spacious luxury chalets. Each luxury chalet has a stunning lake view and includes a living and dining room which area is comfortably furnished. It has a fully equipped kitchen, with an outside BBQ place and a spacious terrace, with all the comforts and amenities of home.

A restaurant is offering delicious food in the main lodge. The reserve hosts a variety of wildlife like Giraffe, Zebra, Oryx, Gnu, Impala, Nyala, Warthog, Springbok, Blessbok, Waterbok, Eland, Hartebeest and Ostrich.

Optional activities: Kayaking, game drives with your rental car or with ranger & safari vehicle, Aqua Cycle.

DAY 3 & 4  Sossusvlei 

 

 

 

 

 

Visit the red dunes of Sossusvlei, (a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world), which is surrounded by the possibly highest dunes in the world and is filled only with water in years when exceptionally good rainfall is received. Overnight Sossusvlei Lodge (DBB).

DAY 5 & 6 Walvis Bay and Swakopmund
Drive to Swakopmund. The route takes you East to Swakopmund.
Overnight stay at Beach House, Desert Breeze or similar (BB).

 

 

 

 

 

Optional activity: Walfis Bay Cruise, Dunes sand boarding.

DAY 7 & 8 ERINDI GAME RESERVE

Departure from Swakopmund along the Atlantic Coast towards the North.
Overnight at the Old Traders Lodge in the Erindi Game Reserve on a full board basis, including 2 game drives  daily in open safari vehicle with professional, knowledgeable game ranger.

Drive to Windhoek, return your vehicle.
