After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area via Olduvai Gorge. Descend to the crater floor for a half day in the Ngorongoro Crater. This protected area is located in the Great Rift Valley. The Crater actually is a gigantic fracture of the earth’s crust. The magnificent landscape consists of volcanoes, mountains, plains, lakes, forests and archaeological sites. At 1600 meters altitude the bottom of the Crater (265 km square), dotted with watering holes, offers shelter to almost 30.000 animals in an area naturally enclosed by the slopes of the volcano. The Crater elephants are strangely, mainly bulls. There is a small number of black rhino. The bird life is largely seasonal and is also affected by the ratio of soda and fresh water on the Crater floor. You will also explore the wildlife: lions, elephants, zebra, hippo, buffalos, and rhino are just a few to be mentioned. Picnic lunch at the crater floor. After an exiting half day of safari, ascend to your Lodge for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge L-DBB

Day 7 Departure

Speke Bay

Speke Bay Lodge is situated on the shores of Lake Victoria some 125 km north of Mwanza and 15 km from Serengeti National Park. The lodge has eight, lake facing bungalows with private bathrooms, and nine safari tents with hot showers and toilets situated close-by. Three separate round buildings are joined by a large terrace, which overlooks Lake Victoria. There is a well-stocked bar with a good choice of South African wines. The restaurant offers a blend of international and Tanzanian cuisine; and is specialised in fresh fish from the lake and uses vegetables and fruits from the local fields. The owners have trained the staff, and the quality and refinement that has been achieved, will surprise you. Also here, the size and set-up guarantees plenty of personal attention. There are no large buffets; each client can make his or her choice, and the staff will be happy to cater for your special wishes and diets. Your breakfast or lunch can be served on the terrace of your bungalow at any time you wish, or a table will be set for you on the terrace of the restaurant, in the garden or on the beach.

Serengeti Serena Lodge

Set high on the saddle of tree-clad ridge commanding panoramic views over the endlessly rolling reaches and volcanic reefs of the Serengeti, the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge is the ultimate fusion of traditional African architecture and world-class style. Drawing its inspiration from the circular ‘Rondavel’ dwellings and winding paths of a traditional Maasai village, the Lodge features thickly-thatched, stone-built rooms, spaciously set amongst groves of indigenous trees that are cooled by sparkling streams and papyrus-fringed ponds.

The circular bar, its roof supported by massive carven figures of warriors, maidens and elders, looks out over the sky-blue, ‘vanishing horizon’ swimming pool towards the miles of lion-gold savannah that lie below, wherein is enacted the thunderous theatre of the million-strong wildebeest migration. As for views, from lilac-streaked sunrise, to diamond-domed night, the searingly sensational Serengeti delivers a series of timeless volcanic vistas that are second to none.

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge itself s an architectural marvel built on the rim of the collapsed volcano that can boast the most magnifcent views over the crater foor, home to vast herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra, the rare and endangered black rhino, mighty bull elephant, cheetah, leopard, lion and herds of gazelle and hartebeest. Most of the wildlife is found on the crater foor, a short drive from the lodge. High on the crater rim it can be a little chilly in the lodge n the evenings and, during the colder times of the year, log fres blaze gloriously in the restaurant and bar and central heating and hot water bottles in the bedrooms ensure a cosy stay. A popular venue for conferences, due to its incomparable location, easy accessibility, size and acilities, the lodge has a very romantic setting, ideal or weddings and special occasions, with the crater foor providing a very special experience for bush breakfasts, picnics and lunches. Within an area which has been inhabited by man and beast for over three million years, Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge offers calm and tranquillity, allowing its guests to soak up the sensations of viewing the spectacular whilst enjoying the highest levels of service and attention.
