Situated on a private Zimbabwean Forestry concession, the lodge harvests dead wood for cooking and heating water. A generator is run in the evening for guests to charge their cameras, phones, i-pads and e-readers etc and after the generator makes way for the nocturnal sounds of the wild African bush. There are solar lamps in the rooms for light.

Rondavels
Traditionally thatched round rooms with en suite bathrooms
Sable Sands has 16 traditionally thatched ‘rondavels’ and they all have en suite bathrooms, the perfect blend of ancient culture, nature and modern convenience.
The round rooms (rondavels) resemble the traditional Zimbabwean rural villages and are nice and cool in summer and warm in winter under their thick layer of thatch, which makes your stay unique (especially when an elephant comes to drink from the pool right in front of your room.
