Namibia Self-Drive Safari configurable round trip first tour section:
Windhoek – Sossusvlei
Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako (Windhoek International) airport, you will be transferred to the capital of Namibia. Depending on your arrival time (< 12:00)you may pick up your vehicle, get a brief instruction and go straight on your tour or you will check-in at your Windhoek guest house.
The Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge is only 220 km from Windhoek. The drive will take about 3.5 hours and is recommended to clients, arriving in Windhoek after 1 pm (13:00).
Desert Quiver Camp offers budget accommodation in the Sossusvlei region.
Sossusvlei and Namib Naukluft Park
Sossusvlei Lodge or Agama River Camp
You should enter the Namib Naukluft Park at sunrise, while the temperature is still mild and when the dune contrasts are at their best.
Drive through the dune corridor down to the Vlei to take in the vistas. At Dune 45, make a stop to view the the world’s most photographed dune. Further along, a gradual 2,6 kilometer round-trip guided walk up to Dead Vlei is a must for the healthy visitors. The more energetic have the opportunity to climb to the upper ridge of Big Daddy Dune, one of the highest dunes in this area! Desert Quiver Camp, breakfast at Sossuvlei Lodge, pool, restaurant, bar, rates on breakfast & dinner basis (DBB).

Walvis Bay & Swakopmund
The route takes you West to Swakopmund. Swakopmund has a lot of activities to offer. Whether you spend a morning on the water with adventure, drinks food and the best Walvis Bay oysters, or perhaps a full Marine Dune day, where you will visit the spectacular Sandwich Harbour or drive through the massive sand dunes and try Sand Boarding.
Overnight stay at Desert Breeze, Atlantic Villa, or Gecko Ridge (BB).

Damaraland
The route to Etosha NP via Waterberg is approx. 180 km shorter than via Ugab – Damaraland. However, the route via Ugab Terrace Lodge brings you very close to the Himba people, in case you are interested.
Ugab Terrace Lodge accommodates 32 guests in 16 Chalets, allowing maximum privacy and attention at all times. The accommodation at Ugab Terrace Lodge has been designed with comfort in mind.
- All chalets have a shower and toilet and cupboard and have a balcony situated on a terrace and allowing the visitor a breathtaking view on the Ugab Terrace. Picture yourself on the veranda, sipping your favorite drink and experience the unbelievable view or take part in our activities. The peace and tranquility will take away the city rush, and allow you to once again look forward to a daily wonder, the sun rising and setting.
- Please Note: Due to the fact that they generate their own electricity, rooms do not have air-conditioning, but are equipped with ceiling fans.
Grootberg Lodge
A highlight of your stay at Grootberg Lodge will be the rhino tracking excursion.
Overnight at the Grootberg Lodge or similar on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Damaraland & Kunene region is home to giant mountains, formed millions ago when lava was all the rage, rise sheer and jagged from the barren plains of the inner Namib Desert. Most impressive of these are Spitzkoppe and the Brandberg Massif – which, in addition to being the highest peak in the country, has the allure of ancient rock paintings and the intriguing White Lady of Brandberg. Among the red sandstone boulders and hills at Twyfelfontein is the most impressive collection of petroglyphs in Africa. Around 2,500 ancient rock paintings and engravings feature animals, tracks and abstract symbols. The exact age is unknown but archaeological evidence indicates that hunter/gatherers lived here more than 7,000 years ago.

Etosha National Park
The accommodation at Etosha NP is located within 10 km of the Lindequist Gate or Namutoni Gate of Etosha National Park on the C 38.
Overnight next to Etosha National Park: Etosha Safari Lodge, or Etosha Vilage Lodge.

Eastern Etosha Gate: Aoba Lodge, Uris Safari Lodge or Mushara Bush Camp, (DBB).
You may either do an early morning Game Drive in Etosha NP or drive on to your next destination in the Waterberg region.

Bushmen Land (optional)
Fiume Lodge is not on route to Central Namibia and Windhoek, but the lodge offers excursions to the local Bushmen village and might be worthwhile the detour.
The lodge is situated on a 1400 hectare private game farm with more that 10 different big game species and smaller mammal species.
Comfortable accommodation is offered in 9 stylish chalets, all equipped with air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, twin-beds and built-in cupboards to lock in valuables.

Waterberg National Park
Waterberg Plateau Lodge
Nestled on a rock terrace high up on the slope of the Waterberg, the chalets of the Waterberg Plateau Lodge afford grand vistas of the endless Kalahari bush savannah below. Each of the double room chalets sits between red sandstone rocks in the midst of green bush, with total privacy guaranteed. Acacias shade the terrace; a plunge pool filled with spring water provides cooling and attracts birds and small game.

WABI Game Lodge:
The mountain area, namely the breath-taking and unique Waterberg Plateau invites you to adventurous excursions by car or on foot.
The roads along the edge of the escarpment offer superb views of high, rocky peaks of red sandstone eroded into fantastic shapes and laced with the clinging vines of climbing figs.
On the game drives you will see Leopard, Cheetah, Brown Hyena, Water Buffalo, Roan Antelope, Sable, Waterbuck, Nyala, Red Leschwe, Giraffe, Zebra and even Hippo, among many others.

Day 12 & 13: Erindi Private Game Reserve or Düsternbrook Guest Farm
Drive about 2.5 hours to private Erindi Game Reserve. The 71.000 ha private game reserve is home to over 10.000 animals.

You will see lions, leopards, elephants, giraffe, all kind of antelopes, hippo, cheetah, croc, buffalo and may be even Wild Dogs.
You may drive with your 4×4 vehicle in the game reserve at no extra cost or book a professional game drive (not included).
Düsternbrook Guest Farm
Free walking or driving safaris for a 2 night stay at Düsternbrook.
Overnight in a luxury room in the Düsternbrook (Dinner Bed & Breakfast, coffee) or in self-catering Camp Elephant. The Camp Elephant self-catering units comprises of 15 chalets situated in a semi-circle overlooking our floodlit waterhole. Each Chalet has two bedrooms, with two single beds and crisp clean linen in each.
PLEASE NOTE:
Camp Elephant guests are not allowed to visit Old Traders Lodge.
No day visitors are allowed at Camp Elephant or on the Self Drive routes.

The tour ends in Windhoek. After you have returned your 4×4 vehicle you will be transferred to the airport.
